The Vegetable Circus is a program that uses circus skills to teach children about health through stage shows and after-school enrichment programs. The program was originally designed around North Carolina's standard course of study for health & nutrition for 2nd-4th graders. The main theme of the Vegetable Circus is that of personal health empowerment; the stage show uses a method of blending audience participation and dialectical conversations, with various and fun juggling tricks mixed in to keep the kids attention (and all entertained!)
Our after-school enrichment program is currently serving 5 elementary schools outside Boston, teaching juggling, sphereplay, hula-hooping, balancing, & more circus skills in a comfortable atmosphere. We use our rest time between activities to also teach lessons in respect, friendship, and relevant health and nutrition facts. Regardless of the venue, the mission of the Vegetable Circus is: To challenge children to realize the truths behind the foods they eat, the commercials they see, and how they spend their free time, all while empowering them to relax, recognize their strengths, and express themselves.
